CFC SERVICE PROJECT - 2010 TAMPA
The Tampa Service Project on February 22, 2010 was a neighborhood/park
clean up in a downtown area known as Tampa Heights. The CFC Foundation
partnered with Tampa Bay Watch and Mayor’s Beautification Program to
coordinate free water taxi service to the location in need of volunteer
hands. The Tampa Heights Restoration Project involves converting an old
trolley barn and surrounding waterfront real estate into an area for
commercial and residential use, and opening up the waterfront area for
the enjoyment of Tampa residents and visitors. Tampa Heights is located
on a bend of the river where tidal currents cause significant trash and
debris to collect. Volunteers were treated to refreshments after the
clean up in a quaint corner of the old trolley barn which has been
converted into a café bistro, and of course a scenic river view of the
Tampa skyline.
